SCRIPTURE
Matthew 3: 1-6, 11-17 New Testament
Jesus had a cousin named John. John's mother, Elizabeth, and husband, Zechariah, were childless until God performed a miracle birth when they were extremely old. God had a plan for this child when he became an adult.
John's role was to prepare the people for Jesus, the Messiah's who was coming soon. John was a bold and powerful preacher, and lived humbly in the wilderness of Judah. He wore camel hair garments, had wild hair, and ate locusts and wild honey. He baptized repentant people in the Jordan River. He proclaimed that the "Lamb of God" would come really soon. He said, "I baptize you in water but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
LESSON
John the Baptist was humble . But the main lesson of his life perhaps was he preached confession/repentance of sins and then live transformed, cleansed people God and love. Also, be on the lookout for the Messiah. He was coming around the corner.💕
