SCRIPTURE
Mark 6 New Testament
John the Baptist got in Big Trouble with King Herod Antipas. Herod did not want to kill John the Baptist but was forced to. This is how it went down.
Herod feared John's popularity would cause a rebellion so he put him in prison. Then John got into even deeper trouble! John publically humiliated Herod's wife, Herodias, for her marriage. (It's a long complicated story which I'll skip.) So Herodias wanted revenge on this public insult and had him killed!
She conspired with her daughter, Salome, and demanded her to perform a seductive dance when he was drunk at a big banquet. If the dance pleased Herod, he was forced to grant any request from her up to half his kingdom! Well, Herod loved the dance. The request was John's head on a silver platter brought into th banquet hall. And that's what happened!
LESSON
This is a tough one! This is said to have been a foreshadowing of the torture, suffering and martyrdom of Jesus's followers But still we must trust God and speak out honestly and truthfully, for God is in control. God used John to prepare the way for Jesus, so God's will was done and always will be done.💕
