John 2: 1-11 New Testament
This is the story of Jesus performing his first miracle. He was invited to a wedding. The wedding couple were family friends living in Cana near where Jesus grew up. Jesus, his disciples, and his mother, Mary, were there, too.
Midway through the festivities the hosts ran out of wine. Mother Mary asked Jesus privately to help remedy this embarrassing situation. Jesus had not revealed his Messiahship openly, so he was reluctant to help. But because his Mother pleaded with him, he performed his first miracle but kept it a secret.
First Jesus requested the servants to take the six huge stone jars standing nearby and fill them with water. Each jar held about 9 gallons . Then he told everyone to leave the room. He prayed to God and then the water was turned into the best tasting wine ever! This miracle marked the beginning of Jesus' public ministry.
Transformation is one prominent component of this event besides the obvious of declaring his Messiahship. The water was TRANSFORMED.
LESSON
When we follow Jesus our lives are forever transformed from a life of sin (yes, one still sins, but...)to a life that promises salvation, peace, love, and develops our values/morals. Much more of course, ETERNAL LIFE!
