SCRIPTURE

MARK 5: 25-34 New Testament

A large crowd was following Jesus. A woman who was bleeding for twelve years desperately wanted to be healed and believed Jesus could. Because of her condition she was labeled as "unclean" which was a horrible "thing" for the Jews. People, even family, had to stay a designated distance from her.  She had tried all kinds of remedies to no avail. So she was in the crowd to see Jesus.

When she was in reach of him and not wanting to touch him, she fell on the ground behind him and touched his tzallit.  (This is a fringe like a string attached to a male Jew's garment as a reminder of the Law of Moses.  There were four attached on the hem. ) She was healed at that instant.

As soon as she touched it, Jesus felt his power leave him and he asked, "Who touched me?'" and turned around and saw the woman. She admitted it was her.  Jesus lovingly said, "Daughter, your faith has healed you.  Go in peace and be freed from your suffering."

LESSON

Take your sufferings and trials to God.  He will listen to your prayers.  He may or may not remove your suffering but the peace, comfort, and hope from the Holy Spirit will strengthen you and you can persevere.  Paul wrote in Romans 8: 18, "Suffering produces perseverance, perseverance produce character, and character hope."  Paul knew a lot about suffering. Be of good cheer, God is always near!💕
